High temperatures in equatorial urban climates accelerate lithium-ion battery aging. In this regard, this paper performs physics-based simulations using the Doyle-Fuller-Newman (DFN) model in Python Battery Mathematical Modeling (PyBaMM) with standard degradation submodels considering the climate profile of the city of Manaus. The simulations indicate solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) growth as the main driver of capacity fade and anode porosity change. Short-term thermal improvements in ionic transport and electrolyte conductivity are offset by faster long-term degradation. Aging evolves from an initial exponential phase to an approximately linear rate. A Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model provides low-cost state-of-health (SoH) forecasts up to 10 years. Our results highlight the need for designs tailored to tropical weather, with implications for ancillary services and isolated grids requiring thermal resilience.
